Small ducal throne

The small throne in carved walnut wood, the work of the Lombardo workshop at the end of the fifteenth century, is worked only on the visible sides. It probably arrives from the Ducal Palace.

Its structure and decoration are inspired by motifs of early Venetian Renaissance architecture and the Lombardo repertoire. The most refined part is the frontal panel: a pod-decorated vase holds a splendid candelabra construction which ends with a lit torch.
At the sides, two naked, winged cherubs play musical instruments.
